About Little Long Lake

Georgous Little Long Lake Shig-Wak, pronounced Shing-Walk, is a Chippewa Indian word for Red Pine.

Bordered on the north by Burntside Lake, and on the south by Shagawa Lake, Little Long Lake covers approximately 300 acres, and is 3 miles in length.

It is a clear-water lake, with depths of up to 45 feet.

Although it is spring-fed, Little Long Lake is land-locked and relies mainly on rain water and snow melt to maintain its depth, which fluctuates very little throughout the season.

Other than our bay, the shores drop off abruptly in most areas, making bass fishing excellent along the shorelines. Panfish and crappie are abundant.

There are vast amounts of cisco and smelt in the lake, which help to produce the very large fish that are caught here.

Because there are no rivers or streams feeding the lake, walleye do not reproduce naturally, and the lake is stocked every two years by the DNR.
